We are excited to announce a unique program offered to the Pancretan from the Polytechnic University of Crete in Chania for our PYA youth members this summer. Together with the Polytechnic University of Crete, we have developed a program that offers something for everyone: fun in the sun beach days, historically important tours and unique behind the scenes tours, all in the greater Chania area over three different sessions.
PYA members will be housed in the dormitories on the property of the University in the Akrotiri area and the total cost is $500 per person to participate in this program (fee includes accommodations, all meals at the dormitory, transportation to and from each location and all activities). PYA members must be at least 18 years old and no older than 29 and in good standing with the PAA. There will be at least one adult supervisor for each session. Each session can accommodate 10 youth members. Six of the rooms are single occupancy and two rooms are double occupancy. The Session dates are as follows:
Week 1: June 30- July 7, 2025
Week 2: July 7 - July 14, 2025
Week 3: July 14- July 21, 2025
PYA members may only attend one of the three sessions since the events repeat themselves each week. The Tentative Schedule of Events is as follows:
- Day 1: Arrival and Check-in at 2:00 p.m. (Lunch and Dinner provided on campus)
- Day 2: Visit to Stavros Beach (Zorba the Greek beach) at Akrotiri (swimming); Lunch on campus; Evening Visit to Chania Limani (Old Harbor); Dinner on campus
- Day 3: Visit to Kalatha Beach (swimming); Lunch on campus; Visit Mournies, Birthplace of Venizelos and Theriso. Dinner on campus
- Day 4: All day trip either to Gramvousa/Balos or Falasarna
- Day 5: Visit to Venizelos Museum and Archaeological Museum in Halepa; Lunch on campus; Marathi in the afternoon for swimming; Dinner on campus
- Day 6: Visit WW2 Allies Cemetery and Ancient Aptera; Lunch on campus; Visit WW2 German Cemetery & WW2 Museum in Platanias; Dinner on campus
- Day 7: Visit the town of Chania with an guide specializing in the history/archeology of Chania; Lunch on campus; Visit Loutraki (swimming); Dinner on campus
- Day 8: Check out by 11:00 a.m.
Daily Breakfast is included every day beginning on Day 2
