To honor Venizelos’s forward-looking legacy, the Venizelos Foundation USA announced a $100,000 endowment designed by Antonis Diamantakis and Yiannis Geroukakis. Diaspora leaders, including PAA President Diane Kounalakis, reaffirmed their commitment to teaching youth about Venizelos, while officials paid tribute to late director Nikos Papadakis for strengthening ties with the global Greek community.

Looking to the future—just as Venizelos did—this initiative serves as a long-term investment, starting today to yield meaningful benefits for decades to come.
ANAMNISEIS.NET | JULY 31, 2026   On July 28, 2026, Agios Nikolaos, Crete, unveiled the "Street of Cretan Diaspora," honoring emigrants worldwide. Proposed three years ago, the street and an accompanying planted olive tree symbolize the unbreakable bond with their homeland. The World Council of Cretans praised the Municipality for this deeply symbolic tribute.

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, the 7th World Congress of Cretans officially kicked off at the Orthodox Academy of Crete in Kolymvari, Chania. Organized by the World Council of Cretans under the theme "Crete and the Cretans of Today and Tomorrow," the conference brings together members of the global Cretan diaspora, alongside prominent figures in politics, science, business, and culture.

Serving as a major global gathering, the event aims to foster dialogue, collaboration, and actionable ideas for the future of Crete and Cretans worldwide. Festivities originally commenced on Tuesday, July 21, in Chania.
